Ergonomics and angulation: A breakthrough Ti-Base abutment design

The power of the Clicq™-Base abutment

With the potential for indexed, repeatable placement of the connection in a single position, the Ti-Base ensures accuracy and precision throughout the implant procedure, while at the same time preventing any disturbances to the peri-implant seal. The interface’s close proximity to surrounding dense soft tissue serves as a biological seal against bacteria and prevents any micromovements or microleakage that can lead to crestal bone loss. This convenient two-piece Ti-Base abutment, available in both straight and angled formats, facilitates implant restoration without removal of the entire unit. The upper sleeve of the unit is removable and can be substituted with a healing cap. All parts of the Clicq™-Base system are designed for use with Sirona™ CAD/CAM systems.

The stand-apart features of the Clicq™-Base

Both the base and sleeve of Edison Medical’s Clicq™-Base feature an alignment notch that facilitates easy and hassle-free mounting. The unit’s sleeve is screwed onto the base until the two notches are aligned and the two pieces lock into place.

The Clicq™-Base Ti-Base features two internal, built-in screws that are secured into place during the fabrication process. This architectural design allows for use of a standard hex driver when mounting the Ti-Base, no special tools necessary.

The twelve placement scenarios of the angled Clicq™-Base

Angled Clicq™-Base abutments present 12 possible angled placement options in the mouth arising from two orientation formats, each with six possible internal hex orientations: Type A or Type B. These two Clicq™-Base formats differ by a 30° rotation, creating 12 possible placement scenarios between the Type A and Type B, which is double the standard six possible placement scenarios offered by most internal hex systems. Furthermore, the availability of these angled Ti-Bases in a range of collar heights allows for maximized versatility when customizing abutments to each individual patient.

The Clicq™-Base in action

A carrier is used to place the abutment base into the implant and maintain the connection’s position while screwing it into place. Using a standard hex driver, the sleeve is screwed onto the base until the locking mechanism is activated, which occurs when the two notches on the sleeve and the connection are aligned. A scan body then snaps onto the titanium sleeve in a single position. After the scan body is attached to the sleeve, the apparatus is ready for intraoral scanning.

A healing cap or temporary crown should be used on the Clicq™-Base until healing of the surrounding tissue is complete. When using a healing cap, the recommended tightening torque is 12 Ncm. When using a temporary crown on the Ti-Base during tissue healing, recommended tightening torque is 22 Ncm.

Once healing is complete, the permanent crown can be mounted. The final crown is equipped with a screw channel to affix to the Ti-Base abutment for a screw-retained concept that provides maximal strength and retention. The final angled restoration is composed entirely of straight screws, with the angulation occuring only in the connection itself, which guarantees unwavered stability.

Available Clicq™-Base abutment formats

Edison Medical’s Clicq™-Base Ti-Bases feature a titanium nitride (TiN) coating and are available in either a straight or angulated (15° or 25°) format and with a range of options for collar height and length. These abutments can be purchased individually or in the professional kit or lab kit.

The Clicq™-Base professional and lab kits

The Clicq™-Base professional kit contains 109 pieces and is a valuable chairside companion for technicians that perform a high number of restorations on a daily basis. The lab kit contains 83 pieces and features all the necessary components that lab technicians need to maintain an efficient workflow by having everything on hand. Both kits come with straight Ti-Base sleeves, rotational sleeves, scan bodies and digital analogs. Both kits also come with bar adapters, overdenture attachments, protective discs, retentive caps and metal housing. The professional kit additionally features straight and angled Ti-Bases, open and closed transfers, as well as healing abutments in a range of diameters.
